My passion for humanitarian action was first kindled during my military deployment for reconstruction and community development operations in Afghanistan with the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF)

There, my men and I witnessed first-hand the poverty, hardship and exploitation experienced by the local Afghans in the insecure and war-ravaged environment. We also received their kindness, friendship and smiles

Since then, I have embarked on a journey to help impoverished tribes and communities afflicted by natural and man-made disasters as well as chronic challenges

This journey has so far taken me from Afghanistan to the varied and often remote parts of Nepal, the Maldives, Indochina, Indonesia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, etc. From conflict zones to disaster-stricken regions, from afflicted communities to places of rugged natural beauty, every mission has been a humanitarian adventure

As I embark on these disaster relief and community development adventures, friends from different organisations have joined me to help others in need, and more are continuing to do so. I envisage a season when a critical mass of humanitarians and change agents will emerge to make a positive difference to this imperfect world of ours

I am always in search of like-minded friends, organisations and volunteers. So, please connect with me if you are interested and hope to make a positive difference through humanitarian action
